MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is a technique that uses fine crystals to improve the appearance of the skin. A stream of air blows the crystals across the surface of the skin. As they are blown across the skin, they gently exfoliate the outer layers of skin. The depth of the exfoliation is controlled by the speed of the crystals. This procedure is used to improve many different types of skin problems as well as to maintain a healthful appearance.

Microdermabrasion is used in conjunction with chemical peels in a procedure unique to the Palm Beach Esthetic Dermatology and Laser Center known as a "PEELABRASION". This combination, developed by Dr. Kenneth Beer, incorporates the benefits of microdermabrasion and chemical peels to treat age spots, wrinkles and blotchy skin. Microdermabrasion by itself may improve the appearance of fine lines, stretch marks and small scars. A series of between six and nine treatments is usually performed.

Following a treatment, patients either look as if nothing has occurred or they may look as if they were in the sun.
